Saturday, May 08, 2004 - News - LaHood rips governor's tardiness 05/08/04: "An Illinois congressman criticized the governor as 'rude' Friday for arriving 30 minutes late to a luncheon meeting with the state's Congressional delegation during his lobbying trip to Washington."

I think it shows a rudeness toward people he's trying to influence," U.S. Rep. Ray LaHood, a Republican from Peoria, said of Blagojevich's late arrival to Thursday's meeting. "It doesn't show much political savvy or political class."

LaHood said most of the members who attended the meeting had to leave before Blagojevich arrived because they were called for a vote. Chicago Mayor Richard Daley, also on the lobbying trip, had arrived on time.

Blagojevich, a Democrat in his first term as governor, is routinely late to news conferences and events where he is scheduled to speak.

-- It is just this kind of special interest of 'courtesy' that he is fighting against. Your luck he left Chicago at all...
