The Southern Illinoisan - Top Stories - MULTI-MILLION DOLLAR HOSPITAL EXPANSION STILL ON HOLD:
"If it weren't for bad luck, Herrin Hospital would have no luck at all. Its $16 million expansion project, which was supposed to get under way this summer, remains on hold with no movement in sight, said Phil Schaefer, vice president of business and strategic development for Southern Illinois Healthcare.

'As of last Friday, there was still no new Illinois Health Facilities Planning Board -- not since Governor (Rod) Blagojevich disbanded the old board,' Schaefer said. 'And because there is no new board, there have been no new meetings scheduled.' "

--- Again because Blagozo can't appoint a board there are real victims, local healthcare and local economies suffer.
