Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn says he's excited for the potential economic impact of NASCAR's Sprint Cup championship opening race at Chicagoland Speedway.
Chicagoland is going to get the first race of the 'chase' and will be giving up the date in July it has now, so it is just a race on a different weekend.
Also the 500 new jobs number is insane, if moving a race date creates 500 new jobs that last more than even 10 days I would be surprised. In general I don't see how changing the date would add even 500 more temp jobs. Is attendance going to go up that much? Also a decent amount of the stuff (such as some concessions) are operated by groups who do it to raise money.
This is just silly.
