So we have a private company to run the lottery

Full details here...

But I wanted to share this little nugget...

Northstar has said it will attract younger and more affluent players through aggressive marketing, expanding the number of retail outlets selling tickets, introducing new games and perhaps by selling tickets online. States currently are prohibited from Internet lottery sales, but a bill working its way through Congress could legalize it.

Besides for this all being stuff the state could have done on it's own, it also strikes me as a bit illogical. The reason younger more affluent folks don't play the lottery is in part because they realize it is a really bad bet.

more to come...

Hopefully the state did a better job with the proposals and the math than they did with the video gaming stuff.
